Fishing in South America
Over the years, we’ve gotten a lot of information on fishing. But some of it might be out of date. Does fishing information ever go out of date? I mean, there are probably still fish in the same lake where some member now long dead caught a prize trout. Or not? Who knows.
Anyway, over the years we’ve sold many copies of Fisherman’s Winter and Argentine Trout Fishing. We also had contact with several fishing guides in Chile and Argentina and many more who were willing to provide information for nothing. Unfortunately, we haven’t been in contact with these people for awhile.
Then there was a fellow in Venezuela who ran trips to fish for peacock bass and other water creatures pursued by fishing enthusiasts. What else? For awhile we had a list of fishing spots and camps in the Pantanal for those going after big critters.
From the above you can see that the state and quality of our fishing resources has diminished and is now in a deplorable condition.
How to account for this dismal state of affairs? The blame clearly should be placed on fisherman and others of like ilk for not divulging their favorite fishing locations, writing lengthy trip reports, recommended books, and generally living up to the reputation for good fellowship which they have enjoyed until recently.
